Currently it is not possible to add a new custom field that allows the selection of more than one item from a dropdown.

We'd like the ability to have more than one item selected, much like the Owners dropdown all throughout V1 allows.

An example usage scenario for us is a customers affected field allowing a pre-defined list to select from (which we could sync over via the API from our CRM system)

  • We want pretty much the same thing. My team develops a core product which is used by a number of customer-specific projects, and we need to track which customer projects are interested in a given item.

  • Please, please, please !!! We really need this

  • We could very much use this as well. My reasons are exactly those stated by Daniels S: Multiple stakeholder customers have requested a single feature, and we wish to keep these customers abreast of changes.

  • This would be a much needed enhancement for us. We are currently having to use a text entry field as an alternative and running into a lot of misunderstanding as to what the correct information should be entered in that field. Restricting this to a list with multi-select option would save us from all the confusion and extra work!

  • add multi-select option for custom dropdown fields

  • hear! hear!

  • Vote: Yay

  • Must have for Silverpop. I vote yes.

  • Consistency in behavior across the application is a huge help in getting user acceptance, as well as in simplifying the original training. Since the standard drop downs support multi-select, it would be more than appropriate for the custom drop downs to behave accordingly. The lack of this feature really reduces the value of the drop down ability

  • 53 votes. But, V1 doesn't seem to be listening. This is a critical issue for us as well as we have multiple customers that may have required a story or reported a defect. Right now, we can only select one at a time.

  • Critical issue for us to be able to run reports showing multiple lists to different users across multiple projects. Selecting only one at a time is very limited.

  • 60 votes now. Hoping it is on their radar screen / in their Product Road map??

  • Would love to have the ability to create custom dropdown boxes that allow multi-select!

  • would be appreciated

  • 99 votes... maybe this enhancement is already converted to an epic with well written user stories ;-) or has it not passed some grooming sessions yet?
Our product owners keep asking for it!

  • This idea has been under consideration for a while. The initial solution we considered was exactly what is proposed: a multi-select custom drop-down. However, based on feedback around the current Owners field, we were not inclined to introduce the same control as a custom list. We are now considering a tagging solution, similar to what we have in regression testing. Any feedback you have on this approach would be appreciated.

  • Here is my considered feedback: *JFDI*

You are about to lose our 500-user Ultimate license because of hesitation & inability to move exactly like this. Tell John H (Sales) that if he does not figure oiut a way to give us what we want in a reasonable time he risks us moving on.

    I am very serious.

  • The tags idea will be an improvement, but it will not solve the problem with data quality. We need a field which allows selecting multiple entries from a list of predefined values.
Tags are susceptible to the same errors we observe with pure text fields - if I add tag "CRM" and you add a tag "CMR" (a typo), these will be two different tags and I won't be able to create accurate reports later.

  • Agree- multiple selections is huge here. Our customers are big on custom fields, as each business unit is different. We would need this ability as well. Tags won't be sufficient. You must consider the value of reporting ad data quality when implementing solutions as well.

  • I could use Tagging for what I need. I need to be able to have multiple predefined items in a field, so I don't leave it open to a "text field" where humans can type "mystakes".

  • A clone of the Owner field is needed for tracking customers appropriately in V1. The field would be available to Requests, Stories, Defects and and epics. The customer field would also be available as a filter in appropriate grids.

  • I've been reading multiple Ideas on tagging and multi-select drop down lists. These responses are more than 12 months old and I don't see either of the solutions available. Can anyone confirm the status of these, as we are struggling without them?

  • Please implement this feature!!

  • The other huge issue is the workaround: If you needed to select two options that aren't free-form fields, that requires multiple new columns, and that's just ugly. (i.e., Selection Column 1, Selection Column 2, etc.)

  • This is pretty basic functionality in any system. I do not understand what the hold up is. VersionOne....please provide an update!!

  • I am losing a conversion war from share point to V1 without the support of multi-select... If we use a free form field, we will get bad data and reporting becomes a nightmare...

  • Seems to be a basic request from a request stand point. Making the customer get tangled up in the implementation details is of no use.

  • +1 we have hundreds of users and this multi select for custom fields is absolute must for us

  • We're getting hit hard on this almost daily. Now that our teams have used V1 for some time, they need to make sure their reporting is spot on. Without a multi-select field, it would throw them in the complete opposite direction. In addition, we have a huge group that can't move from their old product to V1 without this being implemented.

  • A new custom field type was added in the Fall 2015 release to support assigning multiple custom values to a custom attribute. The Multi-Select field type now allows tagging items with multiple values, as well as filtering for those values on grids and boards using the More Filters button.
