The summer 2012 release allows a defect to be attached to an Epic, but requires that the defect be created and then associated with an Epic. This is a fairly cumbersome multi-step process.
As a Product Owner I would like to be able create defects directly under an Epic (as is possible for a backlog item), so I can group defects under an Epic in a single step.

Please allow create a defect as a child to an Epic or Story.
We need the ability to quickly create a defect record while breaking down an Epic/Portfolio Item. Ideally we should be able to created that defect from a template on the way in too.
